An ancient psychedelic mushroom called Soma, similar to amanita muscaria, was referred to in the Rig Veda as “The Creator of Gods” or “The God of Gods”, because it’s hallucinatory capabilities were thought to elevate ancient shamans to the plane of divinity and make them equal to deities. The juices from the stalk of the mushroom were extracted and made into a ritual drink which was passed around a sacred fire of worship under a full moon.
